Dear Officers of the Law

Stop the War Coalition

Every citizen has a duty to report crimes to the police.  When a crime is reported it is the duty of the authorities to investigate the reported crimes and arrest, charge and prosecute the offenders if there is a case to answer. We the people of the United Kingdom, call upon you the officers of the law, to arrest Tony Blair for heinous war crimes against the people of Iraq.

The sinking Ship-of-Fools in Washington

Les Blough

The real story in the New York Times article about Paul Bremer’s complaints about the media is not just about a political bum moaning about a great media-watchdog - as the NYT would have us believe. Quite the contrary.  Lest we forget, - this same media about which Paul Bremer bitterly complains - is the media that supported the war on Iraq until the destruction was complete.

An Inspector Calls

Chris Floyd

I owe a heartfelt apology to a top official in the Bush Administration, whom I unjustly maligned some weeks ago. No doubt infected by the corrosive wave of cynical anti-Americanism now raging across an ungrateful world, I predicted that the report of David Kay - who was hired by the CIA to find Iraq’s elusive weapons of mass destruction - would be nothing but a sham, a whitewash: “the fix is in,” I sneered.

Master of Fiction

Richard Cohen

Labour Party Expels Outspoken Opponent of War With Iraq

Various News Agencies

Spring 2003. George Bush and Tony Blair invented lies, and crowed for war. The nation roared its opposition. Elected representatives of the British people made self-righteous platitudes one way or another. All except one. Labour M.P. George Galloway bravely spoke the truth, knowing that it meant risking his career in parliament. Today, his executioners took the knife to him.

Red River

Chris Floyd

All this blood and destruction so that Bush might remain in power, and dole out the plunder of two nations—Iraq and America—to the gilded corporate mafia he represents. And now the greatest prize in the history of the world beckons: domination of the world’s oil reserves, precisely at the point when the rising, insatiable demand for oil is about to exceed the remaining supply. Nations will be increasingly desperate, willing to pay any price—financial and political—to those who control access to the precious, dwindling resource.

Has USA use of depleted-uranium (DU) weapons turned Iraq into a radioactive danger area for both Iraqis and occupation troops? This question has already had serious consequences. In hot spots in downtown Baghdad, reporters have measured radiation levels that are 1,000 to 1,900 times higher than normal background radiation levels.
